ARGH! Any way to get back my old paths??

Post by andy1 »

HELP ... this is urgent...

as I am not going to enter about 50 paths again in RC.
I'd like it if RC could keep the paths I used in beta 2.
Tried beta 3 - beta 6 and always got either an empty path list or a mere 'No data files found select one from the menu' or similar.

Please (PLEASE) give the user a way to import his "old" paths.
Otherwise I will continue using b2 for all times, as I will not enter all this stuff again.

Thanks

Have you started working on it Eric? If not, perhaps i could try creating one so you can concentrate on RC development. I can't promise anything quickly but i believe it won't take 2-3 years... :)

No, not yet.
It would be great ! :)
It's quite simple, registry and ini structure is identical.
Don't bother with new 2.70 entries, they will be created when needed.

Thanks Eric. :D

So I will indeed use beta 2 then for the time being and live with this handful of bugs, countable on one HALF (!) hand, not even a full one, as b2 really works great.

Hi andy1. Please visit the following site. You'll find there a tool that does exactly what you need.

well this is what I like. :)
You say the magic word ('please', that is) and ye shall receive.

Thanks very very much Wanderer!
This thread has attracted lots of attention it seems, so I don't seem to be the only one that needs this. :)

after some testing...

... works nicely, but I had to mess with some ini files.

It seems that the creation of the .ini depends on the executable name. :)

I have three executables: romcenter.exe (2.62 stable) + romcenterb2.exe + romcenterlatest.exe.

Your tool made me a nice and shiny ROMCENTER.INI but Eric's program thought it was cleverer than yours and created a ROMCENTERLATEST.INI. :D

No wonder none of my settings were recognized.

I deleted romcenterlatest.ini and copied romcenter.ini (the one created by WRCSManager) to romcenterlatest.ini. All sorted now.

This way you can have multiple romcenter versions with different ini files :yeah:

I'm glad it helped. :) I'm planning to add some extra features in it (hopefully in the near future). I have in mind a mass-settings manager in order to be able to easily and massivelly change some of RC's settings (i.e. split/merged files, fix parameters, etc) in all datafiles that exist in the INI file. If you have any more ideas, please post them here...
