Should I use this tool or...

Post by Tigerman2016 »

Ok hello all this is my first post so I'd like to start easy.
Now...I have to say that years back I had only used Clrmamepro as a tool. I did hear about Romcenter but never tried it. Now I would like to.
Please tell me my decision is correct .. :-)

Questions though I'm not sure about:
I have a complete 0.14x or something romset. Now I downloaded mame64 from official website which is 0.179b. I ran a scan and it seems I am missing almost everything. Something like 99% of the games. It is impossible. Almost all is red. Why ?
In case I have (..) more "mega" folders of roms to add, I can add this/these folders and try to "fix" my destination (actual flder) romset ? Will sw take in account multiple folders as sources for missing roms ?

Also, how do I recognize if my romset is split or merged ? I don't know ATM.

Thanks and I hope to appreciate this software soon. Looks nice ! Ah, staying with stable v3 or should I go with the beta ?

Grazie, ciao !

Hi and welcome here.

Your decision is correct! :)

Having used CLRMame some years back myself, i can say it was a nice tool but RomCenter's UI was way better and easier to use. This is a matter of personal preference though.

RC3 is not developed any more and RC4 is still in beta phase so i'd suggest to download it and at least scan your roms. DO NOT ATTEMPT A FIX IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A BACKUP OF YOUR ROMS as RC4 is still beta. I'm not sure if RC3 is compatible with mame179, haven't tried it. You can download and try it yourself if you wish, since you are a new user though, it would be better to take a backup of your roms anyway before attempting a fix.

Have fun.

P.S.: You can find some help here on how to use it.

Yes. If not, there is probably a bug somewhere and you should report it here. :)

Rc3 is not compatible with latest mame versions because the listxml file now use '<machine>' instead of '<game>'...
