Question scan my roms mame with romcenter

Post by nandoaran88 »

Using Romcenter, is any scan of my MAME 0.273 non-merged roms folder able to show if any rom needs BIOS, Samples and CHD?

I haven't tried it myself with the latest versions of MAME, but you can try it out, it should work.

I'm not sure i understand the question. Romcenter (RC) is capable of detecting all of the file types you mention, as long as they have been properly defined in the datafile. A datafile generated by MAME itself should have proper definitions, so RC should detect all these types. If it has been generated manually, there is no guarantee what will RC detect.

Normally, it should. You could also generate the 0.273 database from mame itself to be more sure.

IIRC, it does. Check this post. I'd suggest you set both options to "Ignore" and then recheck your roms (DON'T FIX, just check). If they still appear yellow in a game, then try to play it in the emulator, it will probably not work.

As a general rule, the only datafile you should trust is the one generated from MAME. If with that datafile you roms appear as yellow, they should be fixed. Also to be "proper", you should leave the Case Options in Settings as they appear in the image, "Datafile".
