Well, I don't :-) Please note that by keeping the source code closed there is no choice. If someone would like to improve it he can only hack the executable. It wouldn't be the first time that developers are attracted by the availability of the source code. So, the fact that currently there aren't ...

So, I'm not yet ready to put rc in open source. I'm still interested in development, don't wory, rc is not dead and I fell some more interest in it these days... That's always good to hear. Does that mean we'll see RC 2.70 final soon? ;) Yes :-) I think the people who asked for the source code didn...

I had asked Eric about going opensource some time ago. His reply was a negative one. It's understandable he doesn't want to give-up his source code. Most programmers feel this way. They don't. They exaggerate. Proof: programmers who write software for a living. They haven't the slightest problem tr...

I'm a programmer myself and i really don't like the idea of releasing the source code of some of my programs. I thing i...

Wouldn't it cause problems to put the new zips in the old roms directory? I guess it would depend on how the updates are done, and I'm not sure how that is. Do rom updates contain a full romset per zip, all the unique roms, or just the updated ones? I hope that made sense. I prefer to do it this wa...

Is this beta safe to use? I thought I read somewhere here that beta 1 had some seroius issues crashing machines, etc. I might be wrong, but thought I'd ask. I've tested beta 2 a little. I cannot guarantee it's totally safe but apart from some French messages, I haven't found anything serious (with ...

...IMO it would be simpler if there were somewhere (probably in the preferences dialog) 2 settings: DatUtil's path and XML2Info's path. Now that i think about it again, XML2Info may change at some point in the future but still remain compatible with existing versions of DatUtil. How would a plain u...

If i may: i believe it would be nice if everything was included in RC installation, however as a user i cannot expect from Eric to release an updated installation of RC everytime DatUtil or XML2Info are updated so IMO it would be simpler if there were somewhere (probably in the preferences dialog) 2...

Well, not all of them :)

When closing a rom path, it shows a confirmation message box with the title and yes/no buttons in french.

Wishes... (had been posted in the old forum)

Hi there. I've just downloaded and testing RC2. I remembered a couple of small wishes i had posted in the old forum and i thought i repost them, in case they have been forgotten. 1. When you create a new datafile from mame (mame import), the datafile could be automatically zipped after its creation ...

Hi there.

Posting the O/S you use would probably be helpful. Does this error occur when RC starts up? Personally i haven't faced the problem you described but it sounds like you don't have sufficient rights to write to some directory...

Re: RomCenter 2.63 news

As you can see, the infos on the right are more detailed, it tells now where the rom comes from. That's great. Perhaps though, the roms that come from other files should have different colors or something. The rom's icon could be half green/yellow/red and half white to indicate that it exists in an...

Hi Eric. I'd just like to wish you good luck with bringing the forum back online. I'd also like to send a message to people like the one who brought the forum down: if you want to prove how great you are, try building something instead of destroying other people's work (from which btw, they gain no ...
