Romcenter Vs Kega fusion Vs rom.sms Vs rom.gg

Hi!

I just discovered Romcenter, wich is great!
I have some trouble with it unfortunately:

I mainly use romcenter to classify and rename my genesis and sms/gg roms. With the genesis ones, no problem, romcenter finds and renames my old roms the way it needs to. But with the sms/gg ones, it strives to delete the extension of the roms (inside a zip file), which leads them to be unreadable for Kega. It's all the more curious since the genesis ones are named the right way (.bin, .smd).

Is there an option to tell romcenter not to take away my extensions? Or do I need to go on Kega forums to ask how to make their emulator running files without extentions?

Firstly, what DAT file are you using to verify your roms?

Secondly, what is it trying to rename the rom extentions to?

Lastly, if they are SMS or GG it wont be the same extention for Megadrive/Genesis. SEGA Master System roms should be *.SMS and SEGA Game Gear roms should be *.GG and NOT *.BIN or *.SMD as you claim.

I'm using the original dat included with the 2.70.

It tries to rename the rom with exactly the same name, without the extension.

I know the sms/gg/genesis don't have the same extension, I was just noticing that the genesis roms are not shortened, instead of the sms/gg ones.

I would say then its a bug. It shoudl rename the file inside and rename it appropriately with the correct extention too.

Persoanlly when it comes to renaming console roms, I use clrMAMEpro. It deals with extentions far batter than RC 2.xx.

Eric, I belive is trying to sort thi sout in RC 3.xx onwards with teh total rewrite.

File extension is handled by the plug in, not the datafile.
Visit the datafile forum and check datafile sites (in the sticky thread) to find an updated plugin and/or datafile.
