chd problems in mame95

Post by alka »

Im using rc 2.62 over a year and it is very useful for me.
When i passed the datfile mame95 i chossed it from the datafile selector
i found the changed roms and i replaced but i notice something.
all my chd roms files are red and all have missing roms with the size N/A
my chd working fine in the mame 95 but in the rc 2.62 are red
Does anyone have the same problem with mame95?

Thank you for you time!!!

Continue the good work Eric.

Firstly, you may wish to bring yourself up to date with RC 2.70 BETA 6.

Currently RC even in 2.70 BETA 6 doesnt support CHD's at this time.

This is on the list of things to do. In fact Eric may correct me on this, but it woudl appear that this will be added in Eric's complete rewrite of RC due to it not being as flexible in its current state to perform such checks.

Time will tell.

:?: Thank you for your help Ad_Enuff!!

I installed the latest version but I see the same thing again.
The problem is not exactly the chd files. Is the roms of chd files.
what I mean?
When i saw the sfish2.zip (not the sfish2.chd) I look near the roms and I see a file with name sfish2 and a very long signature. Why happen this?I didnt have this problem with mame 94 dat.

Because I dont know very good English and I didnt express the problem correct may I send you some screenshots to see what I really mean?

If you give me your permission I will send the screenshots.

Thanks again!!

How can one create dats that omit this thing that alka mentioned? In other words make dats like in 94.
Did something change in mame that listinfo that creates them and if so can it be bypassed?
I hate red zips!

OK, the next thing to update is datutil.

Are you using the latest DATUTIL? which currently is version 2.16. Without the latest version you maybe producing errors.

Download it here: http://www.logiqx.com/Tools/DatUtil/dutil216.zip

Install it here: C:\Program Files\Romcenter

Eric,

Is it possible to make arcade.dll ignore the CHD files, it looks like the inclusion is causing confusion for some people?

If not, I'll add a switch to DatUtil so that it doesn't output them.

Arcade.dll only calculates the crc. I can't remove chd from there.
I can only tell arcade.dll to avoid to calculate the crc (useless for chd), but chd won't disapear from the lists. :toobad:

Maybe put the chd export off by default in datutil ?

Or just add CHD MD5 SHA1 compatibility in RC! :D

Just kidding!

The RC v3.0 rewite should take care of that.

I'll just disable it in the code when I next get a chance to work on it (maybe this weekend).

Adding sha 1 calculator in arcade.dll plugin is not hard.
The problem is that rc 2.x will not put chd files in the root of the rom folder. It will actually try to put it in the zip, wih the others Roms.
And it is not good :P

Everything is easier said than done.

I look forward to seeing it, perhaps in v3.0 once the rewrite has been written from the ground up taking into account CHD's.

Strangely, I have to admit I dont have many CHD's purely down to the amount of HD space they require.

That and the fact that most of them are crappy Arcade games anyway! :P

I have released DatUtil v2.17 which excludes disk from RomCenter data files now.

Hopefully this will stop the current confusion.
