When I try to load a game through Rom Center, it opens MAME, but not the specific game.

I am open to suggestions.

You click on "run game" and RC opens MAME at the home screen and doesn't start the game itself.

Strange. Check emulator parameters under Preferences \ Emulators. You must have selected the emulator exe and the parameters should be something like "%1" (enclosed in quotes). It may be important that your mame rom path is correctly configured too. Also, try changing "%1" to "%3" if you still have problems, it may help if you pass the full path.
