Different check results with clrmame

Post by RomCenter »

Some people noticed some inconsistencies with clrmame. One may think that a set fixed with romcenter should also be clean under clrmame, and inversely. :?

This is not so easy, and not always true.

Denzilla noticed some differences in files: (confirmed on rc3.00a7, mame 0.121, split mode)

buckrogn (useless files)
sengekij (Shows as needing a rom)
spacedxj (useless files)
rastanu (useless files)
rastsaga (useless files)

In fact, all these sets have inconsistencies in their roms.
Take rastsaga, clone of rastan.

Rastaga have a rom (b04-40.20) with a crc (6b...)
Rastan also have a rom (b04-40.20) with a crc (49...) :wall:

Did you notice that the crc is different ? This is not a problem in split mode because rastan and rastsaga roms are stored in two zip. 8)
But if we switch to merge mode, we want to put rastsaga roms into rastan zip (because rastsaga is a clone of rastan).
Can we put both b04-40.20 in on zip ? No. :wtf:

RomCenter handles this problem by leaving the rom b04-40.20 (6b...) in the zip rastsaga (in split mode). All other roms are merged in the rastan file. :super:

Afaik, Clrmame breaks the clone link between rastsaga and rastan in all mode (merge, full merge and split). rastsaga is no more a clone of rastan.

That is why romcenter wants to remove a lot of rom from a clrmame rastsaga, because all of them are already in the rastan file. :yeah:
