Dat file discrepancies

Post by maeztro »

I am trying to sort out my SNES roms, but are having some problems with the dat files to use.

I am using Romcenter 3.54 and the latest dat file from no-intro with the header edited to use the snes.dll plugin.
<romcenter plugin="snes.dll"/>
(Nintendo - Super Nintendo Entertainment System Parent-Clone (20100910).dat)

This gives me:
You have 3152 of 3444 known games (roms, disks and bios) - samples not included
and
You are missing 292 of 3444 known roms

Except for at least 138 of the missing roms are available and match the info in the dat file. For example:
Chrono Trigger - Jet Bike Special (Japan) (BS).sfc - 9dfb3014

Dat file info:
<game name="Chrono Trigger - Jet Bike Special (Japan) (BS)">
<description>Chrono Trigger - Jet Bike Special (Japan) (BS)</description>
<release name="Chrono Trigger - Jet Bike Special (Japan) (BS)" region="JPN"/>
<rom name="Chrono Trigger - Jet Bike Special (Japan) (BS).sfc" size="262144" crc="9DFB3014" md5="5DC24ED61B2B590C7116C0ECDD0C2F07" sha1="1F916454D4A9CEDBD66BABE4BB9EEBC446410335"/>

File info:
File: Chrono Trigger - Jet Bike Special (Japan) (BS).sfc
CRC-32: 9dfb3014
MD4: 5517b609dc9e70062c73e4b1efe01864
MD5: 5dc24ed61b2b590c7116c0ecdd0c2f07
SHA-1: 1f916454d4a9cedbd66babe4bb9eebc446410335

In Romcenter, the rom is marked as unknown, and the real format identified as mgd

Using the unmodified dat file (arcade.dll plugin), correctly identify the above rom as well as the other 137 in the same directory.

The rom loads in ZNES, bsnes and SNes9x, but seems to only run in SNes9x. None of the emulators complain about the rom, though.

Any advice in either changing the rom or dat file to correctly identify the roms? I can upload some of the relevant files if anyone wants to have a look at them

Thanks in advance

It seems to be a dat problem. You should report it in the no-intro forum.
The crc hasn't been calculated on the header free rom, but on the full rom.
