Ok, that is decided then. I will create an XML file when I find a moment.

Any emulators that DatUtil fully supports, we can look forward to in RomCenter 3. :)

The internet connectivity issue is something that Eric would need to address but as you say, lack of internet connectivity should not stop RomCenter from carrying on as normal. I understand what you were trying to say about MAME versions now. That is a good idea and can also be extended to other emu...

I considered XML but wasn't sure if Eric would prefer parsing XML or delimited data. If Eric is happy to receive XML then that is fine by me but if he hasn't loaded XML data before, it will be more work for him. ;) The second option is not worthwhile in my opinion. The number of people who only main...

Eric, I could generate a delimited file for the web that lists my tools, version numbers and other useful info. e.g. DatUtil|v2.25|Updated|06/12/2005|dutil225.zip|293| All of this information is currently in XML that generates the web page. I could also invent another value that specifies the minimu...

Improving slightly each day, thanks. I'm still at my parents and the most I've been doing on a computer is picking up my e-mail every 3 days. I don't think I'll be in a position to do the required MAME updates for a while though. I have my tools on a memory stick but without my own PC, the job is mo...

Yes, RomCenter can import a data file from mame.exe so long as you have datutil.exe v2.22 or newer in the RomCenter directory. Alternatively, to generate a RomCenter data file from mame.exe you could do this: mame -listxml >mame.xml datutil -f rc mame.xml This will generate a RomCenter datafile call...

Registered users only?

Hi Eric, I am often deleting adverts for pharmaceuticals or pr0n sites from this board. They are always made by guest users and my guess is that they are posted automatically by some kind of spider/robot. I think it would be wise to change the board to registered users only so that it doesn't happen...

The short answer is that you won't be able to add more games unless you can program in C and are capable of extending MAME yourself.

RomCenter alone cannot add more games to MAME.

Yes, I know of all those errors but I have worked around them accordingly (e.g. ignore invalid parent names and rename ROMs that have CRC conflicts, etc). Kawaks also references non-existent parent but other than that is tidy. All good reasons to use my data files. ;)

Reboot your machine. The .exe is probably held in memory and the OS will therefore not allow you to delete it (or something like that). I often have a similar problem with directories but after a reboot they can be deleted.

No-one should be using the Nebula generated data file anyway because it has incorrect information in it. If you do, you will find that you have missing ROMs for some games (seen via the emulator's internal audit). I don't know why this should be the case but it is. My data file does not contain the ...

DatUtil without arguments converts XML to CMPro format. You need to use '-f rc' to generate a RomCenter datafile.

Eric,

Is it possible to make arcade.dll ignore the CHD files, it looks like the inclusion is causing confusion for some people?

If not, I'll add a switch to DatUtil so that it doesn't output them.

The purpose of the supplement is to create a second directory in addition to the MAME ROMs:

Dir 1 = MAME ROMs (unchanged)
Dir 2 = Nebula Supplement (only 270MB)

By using Dir 1 and Dir 2 Nebula can run any game without a problem.

Download the Nebula data file and use one of the supplements in the ZIP (choose the one that matches your MAME set type).

Just use the full v0.95 dat because if you do it using the change datafiles you'd need to do 0.92 changes, 0.93 changes, 0.94 changes and 0.95 changes. You'd be multiplying your workload considerably by doing it in 4 steps rather than just one.

I've just release DatUtil v2.16 which saves disk information in RomCenter data files. Note: RomCenter does not support disks (CHDs) or the SHA1 checksums that they use. The disk information is simply in the data files for plugin authors to use. The disk information only works correctly with RomCente...

use another algorithm, and include the new chd 'signature' in mame datafile. If someone is prepared to make the plugin changes I could easily extend the RomCenter format supported by DatUtil. I'd invent a new section for CHDs and instead of CRC, SHA1 would be used. For example: [DISKS] ¬cryptklr¬Cr...

Personally I'd take the view that two ROMs in related games (parent/clone) with the same ROM name but different CRC is a bug in the data file and should be corrected by the data file author. I know that there aren't any such problems in my data files. ;) With regards the matrimbh problem above, that...
