some have red x's on them so do not why is this and what can i do to fix them? These are called "bad dumps". People have tried to extract (dumped) the original rom contents into files but the whole process has not been successful (yet), either because the roms are encrypted with an algorithm that h...

Yup, that might be useful. Since the games are playable without the samples, it would be nice to be able to see them in green somehow.

2 Eric, a question about samples in MAME: What if one does not not have/wish to include samples in the roms at all? For example, i have no samples at all. Still, RC shows in red all roms that contain samples. Can i somehow tell RC to ignore missing samples so the roms will be colored in green inste...

Re: Install old version or wait for version 3?

AFAIK, there are no plans for releasing version 3 very soon. Eric has not said anything about releasing a new version next week anyway ;) . It seems there are still a few things to be done so i wouldn't expect a final version in the very near future. Also, it seems that the checks and the resulting ...

The "open path in explorer" does not call a particular explorer. It just tell windows to open the path. It will open with the default one. Hi Eric I've taken a quick look at the new beta and i have a few "first-look" comments. 1. Maximize RC window, then close and restart RC. Even though the window is maximized when it starts the second time, it does not cover the whole screen. rc3b2max.png 2. Load a database from the menu. At that poi...

Ini file move to "userappdata" windows directory. But you can put it elsewhere by editing the file romcenter/startup.ini Thanks for the info. Maybe there could be another dialog in the settings which lets one edit it from the UI? Hmmm, this could prove to be messy. If RC gives the user the ability ...

Re: Version 3.00 beta 1 released

Yes, since no registry or external dll are used, you can easily build a zipped version. :) I was thinking more of you releasing such a version, along with the "installer" one. There may be people who prefer to simply unpack files instead of installing them (i'm one of them! :) ). It's not a big dea...

Re: Version 3.00 beta 1 released

Great news. Thanks Eric. I have an installation question. Since RC is more portable now than in the past, do you think a "zipped" RC version is possible (without the installer - like the alpha releases)? Settings (which now are placed in AppData folder - great) could exist in the zip under a "data" ...

Re: Need Help, new mame, old roms!!!

Hello

Try to confirm that those roms you have are compatible with that mame version (0.62). Perhaps they need a slightly older or younger mame. The next step would be to search around for rom sites or try the newsgroups (alt.binaries.emulators.mame).

The creation of a startup.ini is very different that to store the romcenter.ini in 'program files'. This startup.ini will only store the path to the data folder. If you want to change that path, you will have to confirm to vista that you really want to do it. And that's all. romcenter.ini is update...

Hi

I had also made similar comments in this thread. I support "%APPDATA%\romcenter" as the folder to store RC's settings (instead of "My Documents") and i would also like to be able to use RC's installation folder to store romcenter.ini.

I don't know if the routine that gets the device id is different in RC3 than what it was in RC2. I should clarify here that i've noticed this behavior in RC2 (at least about 6 months ago). Specifically, i had a 3.5" HDD connected (using a removable tray) directly to the motherboard and i used the HD...

I understand the general idea is to protect the user from making a mistake but if the user knows what he is doing (or think he does ;) ) then it complicates things. It could be enabled by default but have an ini option to disable it.

If I simply remove the id and only keep the name, does it solves the problem ? Hi Eric Yes, it would probably make things simpler. I wonder, what's the reason for having this validation? In Windows you can assign fixed drive letters to removable disks so there is little chance of making a mistake. ...

Hello Each rom path is located on a disk (CD, HDD, Flash-disk, etc). For RC2, each connected disk on a PC has a unique ID which is stored in romcenter.ini along with the rom path at the moment you open it.
