RC 2.71 error when loading DAT of MAME 0.117u1

Hey there,

I had imported the DAT information from MAME32 0.117u1, worked like a charm.

When switching to this DAT inside the MAME GUI, RC raises an error message when loading my list of ROMs out of the given pathes with message:

"Access violation at address 004AB8CF in module 'romcenter.exe'. Read of address 0000000C.

RC continues to run, but obviously it cannot enumerate my ROM files.

Any help is appreciated.

Cheers,
Davy

You might find that today's release of DatUtil fixes the problem.

MAME now describes resources differently (0.117u1 and 0.117u2) so an update was required for DatUtil to understand the new XML. Maybe this resulted in a data file that RomCenter couldn't handle properly (causing it to crash).

Try the new DatUtil with MAME 0.117u2 and let us know if it helps. This is just a guess but it might fix the problem!

denzilla: Can I assume that you also experienced the problem before upgrading to the new DatUtil?

davy2: Has your problem been fixed by the new DatUtil?

Yep. I had the exact same issue before upgading to the new dat utility.

@Logiqx: great, the "bug" is approved :-)

Thx-a-lot,

Same problem here, importing from last version of mame.exe causes the error mentioned above when loading the dat file in ROMCENTER.

Copying datutil 232 in rc directory does not work. RC cannot import dat file using datutil 232.

It does fix the problem. You must still have the old version installed somewhere.

There is no difference between using DatUtil v2.32 in RomCenter or downloading my data files (which are generated with DatUtil v2.32).
